Independent studies have shown that the knowledge of SA learners regarding Maths and Science, is not up to standard by far. BrainAcumen Learning Academy offers the learner an alternative method of teaching to ensure that his/her Maths is on International level by integrating the International Cambridge Curriculum with the curriculum of SA schools.

At the same time, BrainAcumen offers you the opportunity to own a centre which concentrates on Maths principles and does not necessarily target a specific syllabus and consequently enhances a child’s potential.

Executive director Chrisna van der Walt BSc(HOD) with Maths and Chemistry as main subjects and B.Ed. has been active in education for a period of more than 25 years. She has also been researching the SA-School system since 2000. Her education and experience in psychology, outcome-based education and trauma counsel, makes her the perfect person to work with children. In 2001 Chrisna founded the Academia Private School in Bela-Bela with the purpose to offer alternative education methods with strong emphasis on Maths and Science, offered to children for maximum development. Chrisna has an intense interest in the psychological assembly of people and her knowledge of psychology comes in very handy in this regard at BrainAcumen with regard to teaching of life skills.

According to Chrisna, every child has the ability to do Maths, although the method of understanding things differs – the motivated, patient teacher can assist a child to accomplish maximum potential.

“If every child that crosses my path can only experience the love of Christ, then everything to me, was worth it.” she says.

Which needs are addressed?

The work-units concentrate on exercising Maths principles and do not necessarily target a specific syllabus. BrainAcumen offers an alternative method of teaching to enhance a child’s Maths ability.

What about training?

One full day’s intensive training BrainAcumen's office in Bela-Bela.
The relevant learning matter will be discussed intensively.
Training will be given in the day to day working, the managing and implementation of the centre.
The applicable tests, amongst which norm and diagnostic tests will be dealt with intensively.

What is contained in the program and training material?

Complete Maths work-units for Grades 1 to 12 will be provided in Afrikaans and English. Worksheets are sent 10 at a time every three months, giving a total of 40 worksheets per grade. Thereafter work-units will be reviewed on a yearly basis for adaptation.
